Overview
There are so many ways to remove hair on the market today. From shaving to using depilatory creams, to waxing, it’s sometimes difficult to determine which choice to make. But, with all the previous options, the hair grows back quickly, and you must repeat what you previously finished. These tasks, in general, are constant, tedious, and you may not always have the time or energy to perform them.
At Chrysolite Aesthetics, our laser hair removal treatment will remove your unwanted hair comfortably and effectively. Let us help you put more time back into your day by scheduling your laser hair removal appointment today!
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal temporarily eliminates unwanted body hair and leaves behind smooth, sexy skin. If you’re tired of shaving, tweezing, plucking, or ingrown hairs then this treatment might be right for you.
Let’s break it down. Our hair is visible on the surface of our skin, but there is also quite a bit going on beneath the surface that we don’t see.
Hair grows from a tiny pouch-like structure called a hair follicle, and it grows in three phases. The hair follicle must be in active growth for a laser to remove it and end hair growth for long periods. Hair grows back in a matter of days after shaving or plucking the visible hair shaft. Removing the hair and the follicle with a controlled laser leads to smooth skin for a longer period.
The average human has around five million hairs on their body. People generally tend to have about 100,000 hairs on their heads, leaving 4.9 million hairs for the rest of the body. These hairs can vary in density, color, and texture. Because we have that many hairs, some are inactive for weeks or months at a time, and they are all in different stages of growth at any one time. Therefore,we will never truly eliminate 100% of the hair in one area in just one treatment. Hormones also affect hair growth and may activate new hair growth when they fluctuate.
We recommend multiple treatments because follicles are active at different times. We also recommend touch-ups once your initial package is complete to catch new growth and keep your area permanently smooth and silky.

While a lot of spas advertise as offering LHR, a lot of them are actually using an IPL technology rather that a real laser technology.
But what is the difference between Laser Hair removal and IPL hair removal?
The key difference between laser and IPL is the type of light. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a broadband pulsed light source, whereas laser is a monochromatic coherent light source. Both methods target the melanin in the hair follicle and very good results can be expected from both. Professional laser treatment is working more selectively where the very high energy will focus on the hair follicle rather than surrounding skin. Therefore Professional laser will lead to fast results as well as being suitable to darker skin tones.
While both treatments can show to be as effective initially. Hair removal results utilizing laser machines rather than IPL are believed to be lasting longer and requiring less touch ups.
